A large number of Trainee Civil Servants competed for medals in such events as Running, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Short Put, Discus Throw, etc. Mr. Pullela Gopichand, Chief National Coach for Indian Badminton Team, who was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function of the Meet, presented medals to the winners.

He called upon them to build the mindset of a champion, which involves taking small steps but remembering the big picture, letting the dreams to be bigger than fears, continuing the campaign despite initial failures, and keeping their skill set up-to-date.

Mr. Gopichand urged the Civil Servants to use their authority to create a culture of physical fitness considering the fact that we have been enriching our academic achievements and ignoring our low physical quotient. “When we play sports, we develop health, character, human bonding, community building, and happiness index”, he opined and added that launching a national movement to inspire people to be physically fit is far more important than chasing a few medals.

Smt. Anitha Balakrishna, Joint Director General of the Institute & Course Coordinator, in her welcome address, recalled as to how Mr. Gopichand had declined offers for endorsements of brands that he did not believe in and urged the trainee Civil Servants to hold on to their core values and beliefs in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. Rajeev Trivedi, Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department, who inaugurated the Athletic Meet early in the morning, said that there is a direct relationship between physical fitness and productivity at workplace. He added that one should start physical fitness and adopt healthy lifestyle at a young age and continue them as a part of his habits so that he remains productive throughout his professional career.
